Employee Focus: Robert Barney
For our first quarter of 2022 our Employee Focus is on Robert
Barney. Rob joined the Van Mark team, as
a machinist, in August of 2020. Bringing
over 20 years of experience, we welcome the knowledge and skills Rob has gained
throughout his career. Rob told us that
he really likes machining but, he also likes that he gets the opportunity to do
various things while at work, which keeps the day from getting monotonous. He also tells us that he enjoys working at
Van Mark because the people are friendly, and he feels Van Mark is very
accommodating to employees.
Rob hopes that in the coming years and, in the course of his
employment at Van Mark, to be more involved with the design side of the
business, whether designing new products, or fixtures. He’s very excited that Van Mark recently acquired
a new CNC machine. Rob said they are
just in the test stages however, “I’ve finally gotten enough programming set up
that we have been able to start machining parts”. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that all goes
well with that!
In his spare time Rob enjoys woodworking. He’s built his own CNC router that he uses
for his woodworking and some plastics work. Impressive, to say the least! Rob also enjoys hunting but, says he’s just
been too busy for the past several years and hasn’t been out in quite some
time. Rob is also very active with his
church and spends a lot of time with that but, overall, considers himself
somewhat of a homebody. He said, “I like
to do things around the house”, and we know, there’s always something to do!
Rob spent his childhood in the Montrose area and the Flint
area and eventually settled in Flint for much of his adult life. Rob relocated to the Whitmore Lake area in
2020 to get closer to work. Rob shares
his home with a roommate and cat named “Babygirl”.
Look forward
to another employee focus next quarter and be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for announcements.
