Employee Focus: Joseph Russell

For the first quarter of 2021, our Employee Focus is on Joseph Russell.  Joe joined the Van Mark Sales team in September of 2020, not long after his graduation from Miami University.  Joe earned his Bachelor’s degree in business, with a focus on marketing, along with an Associate’s degree in history.  Joe tells us one of the reasons he likes working at Van Mark is due to the small business aspect.  Everyone knows everyone so, communication is easy.  He feels he is getting great experiences which will be helpful in his future endeavors.

Joe has been very diligent learning about Van Mark’s product line.  He shared that he feels an overall sense of accomplishment with understanding our products, the distribution process, and his ability to help our customer’s needs.  Joe has undoubtedly gained the respect of his peers for his outstanding communication skills.

Joe has exciting plans for his future.  He was recently accepted into the Marine Corp Officer Program and, unfortunately for Van Mark, this means he will be leaving us this coming June to pursue this new adventure.  We will be sad to see him go but knowing how much this means to Joe, how can we not be excited for him!  He will be off to Quantico this summer to attend Officer Candidates School and from there he hopes to receive a commission that will start him on a four-year active-duty Officer position.

Joe was born in Chicago but, before his first birthday, his family moved to Michigan, where his father is originally from.  When Joe was around the age of 7, his family temporarily relocated to Kansas due to a job transfer at his father’s job.  The family was able to return to Michigan within a few years and have been here ever since.  Joe spent most of his life in the Bloomfield area.

Look forward to another employee focus next quarter and be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for announcements.
